Marriage: A Novice's Guide to Finding a Life Partner
This post is a real, unedited LinkedIn conversation I had right after my engagement was fixed. A moment that unexpectedly captured my year-long journey of understanding the matchmaking process.

Nikita: Hi, this is Nikita. I saw your profile on a matrimonial site.

Me: Hi Nikita, I'm sorry but my engagement got fixed, i didn't expect but it happened.

Nikita: Oh congratulations, wish you all the best 🤝

Me: Thank you.

Me: Bit surprised that you reached out on LinkedIn, How is your matchmaking process going on

Nikita: Going nowhere... My relatives brought a few matches that I don't like. So registered my self on a matrimonial site. So far nothing much interesting.

Me: I spent a year looking for the smartest girl possible. Put my entire career at risk 😅

Nikita: Wow, putting entire career at risk for marriage. Can you tell me more? I want to know.

Me: Can't tell you everything, but a few things which might be useful to you.

Me: But first tell me. What is your family background, wealth?

Nikita: Nothing much. I'm like a breadwinner to my home. My grandfather has around 3 acres of land.

Me: Salary?

Nikita: 19 lakhs.

Me: Sounds like you don't need much help, you will get pretty good shots.

Nikita : Say me.

Me: Fine...

Nikita: Hello, What are you typing for so long? Are you building OnePlus app or what?

Me: I'm somewhat rational person may not be much useful if you are otherwise. But here you go.

  1. Get the photos right. Spare some cash get a photoshoot, get authentic one's. It's really important.
  2. You really can't get everything you want, you need to know what you are looking for. Education, family wealth, Beauty etc. look for it, ignore other things
  3. If you get a chance, speak to people as much as possible at least you will get some practice, and know how to reject a guy.
  4. Find a wingman, brother, father or mom, train them, use them to ask Hard questions like payslips
  5. Try to understand what kind of people are interested in you. Collect as much data as possible. Analyze.
  6. Make your online presence clear, use them to send your message.
  7. Think of what made you special. Your hobbies, cool things you did from childhood, your dreams, write them down.
  8. I can't tell a lie and get away with it (i tested), but if you can. they say everything is fair in love and war. 😊
  9. To be honest match making process is broken, no point of worry about it. Just try to get as much as possible out of it.

Nikita: Wow man ❤️

Me: Finally, It's a long ride, don't forget to look after yourself.

Nikita: Ya. That’s why i started searching myself

Me: I know, I always admire self sufficient people.

Me: As i said, nothing to worry you will get a pretty good shots. Wish you all the best.

Nikita: Thank you Vamsi

Me: Cheers!
